Why Brazil? Why now?
Brazil has the largest disability population in Latin America and one of the most dynamic startup ecosystems in the world, but the two have rarely intersected. São Paulo offers the infrastructure, institutional partnerships, and innovation culture to change that.
Growing ecosystem
São Paulo is the first. The Moonshot model is designed from the start to be replicable, with future locations planned wherever the conditions for inclusive entrepreneurship are ripe and underserved.
Built on research
Evidence based evaluation frameworks exist for how to measure the strength of the startup ecosystem. Through this project, SmartJob will be building on our prior research in partnership with JP Morgan Chase and Village Capital.
The platform, the partners, and our role.
The SmartJob Moonshot Brazil initiative partners with the Toyota Mobility Foundation and ONOVOLAB, one of Brazil's leading accelerators based in São Carlos, to run the Mobility Unlimited Hub. Together, we support active mobility startups such as AI and robotics tools, adaptive transportation, smart wearables, accessibility software, and assistive interfaces that expand independence for people with disabilities. Active mobility is more than getting from A to B. It's having the autonomy of movement that allows people to be actively independent, so they can pursue all the things that make life healthy, joyful, and worthwhile.
SmartJob leads the ecosystem work surrounding the Hub, sourcing founders across Brazil and Latin America, building the investor pipeline, and delivering the impact frameworks and founder programming that connect promising startups to capital and networks. This is the inaugural cohort.
